POLICE, OUT OF CONTROL

I am outraged right now... watching a video on the news last night about a woman who was wrestled to the ground while police pulled and YANKED on her one-year old child, who she was cradling in her arms.  This is so disturbing to me, I felt compelled to write about it.  If it upsets you too, if you have seen the video (if not, see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRXAjd2UUOA), then comment below - post something of your own, tweet, instagram, whatever you do - bring attention to this.  THIS MUST STOP!~ Dennel B. People Can Be so Cruel

The saddest story I've heard in a long time, that of David and Louis Turpin's thirteen children, who were recently found, some tied up with ropes and shackles.

The husband and wife, both, grew up in Princeton, West Virginia.  The children's aunt says that she and her mother were abused by a family friend or relative; Louis ran away to Texas with David when she was sixteen years old and they soon married in 1985.

In 1990, the aunt came to stay with them in Fort Worth; she says they had four kids at that time and she noticed that they were extremely strict with the oldest daughter in particular.  She wasn't encouraged to talk to the kids and they weren't allowed to talk to her without permission.  Weird.

They also told her she wasn't allowed to tell anybody where she lived, or make calls from their phonr or talk to anybody about them; and they made her get out of the shower in front of them (really weird).  Louise eventually kicked her out for talking to friends at work.

They were evicted from their home in Fort Worth and moved to Rio Vista in 2000; again being evicted in 2010 from that house.  Both houses were said to have been a "mess" - scratches on the doors and dirt all over the walls.  The first being described as having "deplorable filth."  Neighbors said the family was odd; they knew "something" was going on over there.

They moved to Paris, California and registered their house as the "Sandcastle Day School," so they could homeschool the kids.  They dressed the kids in all matching clothing.  A neighbor there reports seeing the kids march back and forth between two rooms for hours every night; two kids eventually (just this month) escaped from a window and called 911.  The parents were arrested.

The youngest is two years old.  The oldest child, a now 29 year old woman, weighs only 89 pounts; they are all terribly malnourished, enduring starvation for long periods of time, living in squaller, weren't allowed to clean themselves - allowed only two baths per year - and were physically and mentally abused, deprived of affection and quite literally imprisoned.  They aunt says she hadn't been able to see the children in over a decade and she is horrified; she has no idea how her sister could have done this.

How could ANY ONE do this????  Sick, sick, sick.

Absurd as it is, these horrible parents told their children that the world was full of horrible people.  They are quickly learning that this is not true; most of the world is full, loving, caring, compassionate people like myself, who feel deeply for these children (young and grown).  Blessings, we send, to each of them - and others like them - with the hope that they can live full and happy lives from here on out.
